The Common Guild’s current home at 21 Woodlands Terrace is a grand, Victorian townhouse to the west of the city centre next to Kelvingrove Park. Exhibitions take place over two floors, including a unique library, designed by artist Andrew Miller, which includes a selection of art books and catalogues.

The Common Guild offers visitors a warm welcome and our staff are always on hand to provide more information about the work, and a cup of tea. Visitors can also make use of the library, which includes a selection of publications and periodicals, including frieze, Parkett, Afterall and Artforum.

Getting Here

Woodlands Terrace is easily accessible by public transport. The nearest Subway stations are Kelvinbridge and St. George’s Cross, and the building is just a short walk from Charing Cross train station. Several bus routes stop on Woodlands Road and Sauchiehall Street, check the journey planner for more information. Woodlands Terrace is at the top of the steps from Clifton Street.

The Common Guild presents projects, events and exhibitions in a variety of locations. The current gallery premises has stepped access from the street (10 steps) and an internal staircase (25 steps to the first floor). Staff are on hand to assist less able visitors and a power-assisted stair climber is available for wheelchair users by appointment (please allow 48 hours notice). Off-site projects take place in accessible venues wherever possible and appropriate – see specific venue information.

A large-print version of all our printed material is available at the gallery on request.

Where possible, all of our talks are audio recorded and made available to listen to online. These can be found on the event pages on our website or on Soundcloud.

We have baby changing facilities in our bathroom and are happy to provide a private area for breast feeding if required.
